Image for DOS, WIndows 8, Samsung Tablet

Post by Alycat »

I have Image for DOS, IMAGE.EXE is timestamped 5/6/2012.

I have just purchased a Samsung SmartPC, running Windows 8 and I wish to take an image using Image for DOS. I cannot run IMAGE.EXE from Windows Explorer and I cannot figure out at this stage how to get the tablet to boot from a USB drive, which is how I backup my laptop.

Any ideas?

I copied Image for Windows across, copy and pasted my "Key", but it says it is not valid.

Tried to get it to boot from Image for DOS usb but can't get it to work.

If I take an image using Image for Windows in trial mode, am I correct in thinking I can't use it after 30 days?

Alycat, do you have a UEFI BIOS?

Can you see your UFD in the Boot Menu?

It is currently "busy" updating Windows ... I remember seeing UEFI, nd I can see my USB in the boot menu.

In boot menu, under Boot to Device, it has Boot Override:
UEFI: SanDisk (usb is sandisk)

IFD UFD won't boot because it isn't UEFI. Check your Win8 to see if it is 32 or 64 bit. If it is 32 bit you will need a 32 bit UEFI UFD. You can make a UEFI UFD with TBWinRE.

When I bought IforD it came with IforW but for some reason the key is not recognised.

Make an imagew.ini file (see above link) and put it in the C:\Program Files (x86)\TeraByte Unlimited\Image for Windows\V2 folder. Is IFW OK now?

I ran through all the instrucions for TBWinRE. I had previously tried to install IforW, I typed the long key in and it failed, I copied it to a file on usb and pasted it and it still failed. With TBWinRE it failed again but let me continue with the existing key, it ran to the end and produced some usb, not sure what. If I need to use it will it work without a valid key?
