Hello,
I've installed quite a few windows XP, Vista and 7 using BING and BIBM over the past five years or so without any difficulties.
However, of late, I'm running into problems with window8.1 installs, probably due to an oversight of some sort on my part.

I can't seem to install windows8.1 without it installing it's boot file to another drive or partition.
During the installation a screen comes up and tells me that windows "may install the boot files to another partition" and click OK to proceed.
There's no option to install to the same partition as the install.
Also HIDE in partition works does not work for me during the installation. All partitions show in the install.
HIDE only works in the OS's allready installed.
Windows8.1 seems to be more invasive, if that I can use that term, with its installing.

My question is; Is there a procedure to install windows8.1 in a multiple boot configuration without it messing up other OS's and not placing the boot files to another partition?

I haven't had that issue with Win8.1 installs. The booting files are always in the Win8.1 partition.

I use this method (but with Unlimited Primaries), "Installing Windows 7 to its Own Primary Partition (video)" in....

As you and I have found, 'hide' does not work very well. I make sure
that the MBR is clear apart from the partition that I am using for the
install. I cannot recall if that works either. IIRC the partition that
you will use for the install is called 'system'. I generally have
partitions to be a similar sizes, but for difficult installs I make
sure that the partition for the install has a unique size to aid
recognition.

You also need to create the partition before the install -
particularly important if you have primaries unlimited.

The above is no different than one would do for any other windows
install. My Win 8.1 install was an in-place upgrade to the installed
win 8.

I think I have found answer(s) to my problems.

I had, in addition to other OS's, Windows8.1 installed and trying to install a second install to another drive.
Could not get a clean second installation without it affecting the other drives.
Then I thought perhaps if I disconnect the drive containing the first Win8.1 it might work.
( I have 3 ssd drives; 2 120gig and 1 500gig, and a 1000mb hd )
Instead of physically disconnecting I went into the bios and tried to disable the drive with win8.1.
This resulted in messing up the drives in general. I was able to correct this again in the bios.

So, instead of installing the second Win8.1 from DVD I just copied the first using BIBM and placed it into a newly made partition.
The first install was fairly new so it was almost like a fresh install.

Anyway, thought I'd let you know my outcome.

Ah, you were trying to install the OS to HD1. Unless you do the following, the booting files will be installed into the active primary partition on HD0.

Yes, I follow that guide on alternate installs.

I've performed a few more attempts at Win8.1 installs and discovered a strange (at least to me) thing happening.

Have an AMD system with Asus M5A97 MB, 8G Memory, AMD FX 6core CPU, HD Radeon 7700 Vid Card and
five drives as listed in BM's Partition Works;
0. WDC HD, 950 gig, 3 partitions; EMBR and 2 data storage.
1. Kingston SSD 120 gig, free space.
2. Crucial SSD 128 gig, 1 primary partition containing Windows8.1
3. Samsung SSD 500gig, 2 primary partitions containing Windows7 and Windows8.1 which was copied from drive 2.
4. WDC USB drive, 1000 gig, storage.

Created a partition on drive 0 for Win8.1 in Partition Works, NTFS, made it active.
Added in the Boot Menu on drive 0, checked Bios sequence and hid the other OS's.
Went through the boot process but the install DVD would not boot and booted back to BM's Boot Menu.
Immediately went into Boot Edit and found that Drive 0 and 1 had switched. Strange?
After a reboot the drives were back in their right places.

Deleted this partition and boot entries and created the same partition but this time on drive 1 with the boot entries.
Same thing happened. For some reason, upon trying to boot the install, the drives switched, and again after a reboot all is back to normal.

This happen to anyone?
Any suggestions welcome.

Unfortunately the way the implemented the BIOS isn't where you set the boot
drive and it is always HD0. What they do is, if it boots from that
alternate drive, it becomes HD0, but if you boot some other media first, it
leave the "normal" or "natural" HD0 where it was.... so that may be what
you were seeing?

Please forgive me but, could you please try again and consider that you are writing to someone with limited knowledge of computers.

I have used BING and BIBM with good results over the years and how to use these programs.

I'm relieved to announce all is OK.
As it turned out, after some trouble shooting, one of my SSD's was acting up.
Took it out of the system and I'm able to, with no problem, Install Windows8.1 on any drive.
