LOL, yeah, we are sitting there watching it do 100GB data in 2 min and done and then go on to other work.OldNavyGuy wrote: Tue Aug 20, 2024 9:56 pmWe run IFW overnight in Task Scheduler, so not really concerned about speed.kris455 wrote: Mon Aug 19, 2024 10:16 pm Have you time comparisoned IFW? I did a lot of testing a while back and went with IFL because it was MUCH MUCH faster.

LOL. I wanted backup (or restore) to be just a tiny part of my work day so if I wanted, say, to take windows updates, I could do a 2 min backup, and then do the updates and then do other things. Or if I want to do a linux install, or update, this makes a pre-backup an easy thing. Makes my work-a-day much simpler/safer as I don't have to think about things that run a long time! or wait for an overnight backup before proceeding with a change!
I want to do my computer stuff quickly and then get outside, or whatever! After 50 years of computers, that is my choice!!!

kris455,
I'm a big fan of IFL restores. But consider this as saving a few minutes of your computer time. Start an IFW backup and while the backup is running, start a Windows update. That gets rid of two restarts. It's faster for me to do IFW backups than to do IFL backups, even though IFL is faster in the actual backup process.

I am on Mint as I respond to this. I am on Mint most of the time.Brian K wrote: Wed Aug 21, 2024 11:17 pm kris455,

Ok. IFW won't suit you. How do you run IFL? While in Mint or from Boot media?

The problem there would be if the Windows update installed and did an automatic reboot...before the IFW backup (and validation) was complete.Brian K wrote: Wed Aug 21, 2024 11:17 pm

I guess the bottom line is use whatever process suits your workflow...you do you.
