Restore WinXP to a different partition

Indeed, I did not remember that you have to update the boot.ini file manually if you change the partition.

Windows XP in partition 4:
[boot loader]

Windows XP in partition 2:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

You can edit the boot.ini file in Partition Work: Select your disk and partition, then click Edit File. Find boot.ini, edit and save it.

Thank you for new replies. However, following your suggestion regarding boot,ini, I've already found the solution.
To conclude:
My question was: "What settings should be changed in Image for ... to ensure that Windows XP will boot from its non-original partition?"
And the real answer is: You must set (check) the Update BOOT.INI option in Restore Options in Image for ... . (It is not set by default.)

from the User Manual:
"Update BOOT.INI – When you select this option, Image for DOS updates all
partition(w) entries in the boot.ini file found in the restored location to point to itself.
This can be useful when restoring Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and
Windows 2003 operating systems to a new drive or location."

This works as expected, I confirm.

Even if you don't select the Update BOOT.INI option, you still don't necessarily have to edit boot.ini. You can edit the partition order in Boot Edit. It's explained in the video.
