Help! - image for linux 2TB drive to 3TB

i have a new 3TB drive and want to clone a 2TB drive to it running Windows 7, i have a C: drive OS partition 100 Gig and a D: drive data partition rest of drive

would like the same setup on the 3TB drive

i have tried several things but can not get this to work. either wind up with a C: D: and E: drive or can not image to drive

any suggestions would be appreciated

thanks

sproket90,

If you want to use the full capacity of the 3 TB HD you will have a GPT disk and your current OS is MBR.

ok.. so are you saying I can not image a MBR to GPT....? I'm not real smart so it needs to be dumbed down a little... :D

or get a drive (or configure it if jumper can configure) to use an (exposed)
4K sector size.

You won't be able to do it and use more than 2TiB because to use MBR on a
drive > 2TiB your sector size needs to be > 512 bytes. But at the same
time, you can't copy between drives with different sector sizes. To move
to a GPT, you could use the 3TiB but your system or boot code in the MBR
must support hybrid booting (which isn't popular) or UEFI (under UEFI the OS
would need to support it) so the boot code needs to change as well.
