working while validating with IFW?
working while validating with IFW?
after the image has been created and it is being validated byte-by-byte, is it safe to use the computer ... making sure not to access the Image backup files or close the ifw program?

It's fine to go ahead and use the computer. Depending on the system there may be a performance hit because of the processing taking place, but it's completely safe. Just avoid heavy disk activity (like doing a defrag).

and the key there is "updating" areas being backed up (defrag can be moving
stuff all over the place and overwriting areas being backed up - so it ends
up needing to be cached (takes up space), or if you have a large file or
recycle bin emptied and then creating a bunch of new files/data and they use
that same space as the old files, those have to e cached - otherwise
normally additions (data part) don't need to be cached).
