defaults are fine, entire drive backup/entire drive restore. Things change
when you start wanting to backup or restore individual partitions or restore
to different hard drives while the original drive is still attached (since
windows will alter things if it finds duplicate signatures on boot or attach
of device, which can make it not bootable).

Is there any "how to" that shows when default options should be changed
and/or a list of symptoms that indicate a problem with having used the
default options? Like: if you have a new out-of-the-box Intel - Win7
portable, use the defaults. Ditto Win8. That info would be a great comfort
to have...
In short, a simple list that gives a hardware context to show when it's OK
to use the default settings would be great for us new users. Then all the
complex stuff like disk geometry could be referenced as needed - IF you had
that hardware installed.
I add this because the documentation is, as you say, written for someone who
knows what's necessary. For those of us who don't, just a list of things
that might change the default choices would be a real confidence builder.
