IFD, IFU, IFW Recovery Disks

IFW makes several recovery discs: IFD (for MBR), IFU and IFW. IFD used to be fine for Win 7 but when i moved over to Win10 that disc often threw errors when sliding or copying partitions. I then converted from MBR to UEFI, and disappointedly, IFU threw the same errors. It doesn't make any difference using them from a thumb drive or CD. The only way I can get Image to reliably restore/modify partitions is to either 1) boot to a Windows 10 thumb drive with Image loaded onto it i.e. Windows to Go, or 2) booting to the IFW Recovery disk. My question is, why make IFD and IFU recovery disks if they are so unreliable? And why are they so unreliable?

They rely on your systems firmware/BIOS, so your experience depends on that. You also have the IFL option which boots much faster than Windows.
