Solved: TBWinPE/RE Builder fails on C:\tbwinre\mount

Post by PsychBiller »

The TBWInPE/RE Builder program fails with:

Mount Error

The WinRE image couldn't be mounted successfully.

Please make sure no programs (e.g. Explorer) are currently accessing the mount folder and that the mount folder is empty.

Mount folder:
C:\tbwinre\mount

I've disabled my antivirus program and made sure File Explorer is not running. The mount folder contains \Windows\system32\InitScript.cmd from the previous run. I can't delete it no matter how much I try to manipulate the security settings.

Any ideas?

Try using "Take Ownership"...

https://www.revouninstaller.com/user-tu ... ownership/

Also make sure TBWinRE is no longer running.

Tried all that, thanks. To clarify, I took ownership in File Explorer.

I would try the "Take Ownership" reg settings and instructions in the link.

In some cases, you may need to do the folder, and the file.

You should be able to delete it from BootIt, Run icon, TeraByte Explorer (tbexplo.tbs).

BootIt? Is that part of the suite? I'm not the power user that some here are, and I visit rarely.

You can use IFL or TBWinRE instead of BootIt. TeraByte Explorer is present in all. It's powerful. You can even delete the Windows folder.

In IFL, right click the desktop, TeraByte Explorer.

If you have TBWinRE boot media that will be the easiest TeraByte Explorer for you to use. As a first timer.
Questions?

Solved! I booted from the TBWinRE flash drive and used the command prompt there. Would be helpful if this software didn't create the mount folder with such difficult to manage permissions. Thanks for all the ideas!
