Why getting "Cannot find BOOTIT.DAT" on black BIU screen then hangs?

Hi,

I'm using BIU 2.04, but I think that I noticed the behavior that I am going to describe with either 2.02 or 2.03 previously.

This on a Dell Latitude 5410 laptop (NOT the Lenovo Legion laptop, but it also happened when I was doing the stuff in the thread with Brian K a couple of weeks ago)

Also, I am not 100% sure what I am doing that causes this, but I think it seems to happen after I resize a partition, then BIU starts behaving weirdly: e.g., I bring up the BIU menu (the one with the boot items) then I press enter to boot to an item (actually I only had 1 item in the boot items), then BIU changes to the BLACK-background page and in gray DOS-ish type font has "Cannot find BOOTIT.DAT" and only thing I can do is Ctrl-alt-delete.

This just happened again a few minutes ago on a system with 2 drives, a 500GB WD NVME and a 2TB drive in a USB enclosure. Only one Windows 10 partition, plus the Dell RE partition:

- EFI partition
- Microsoft Reserved partition
- Windows 10 partition
- DATA partition
- RE partition

I had just resized/shrank the DATA paritition because I was going to do disk image and the DATA partition was almost empty

I think I click the disk image button several times and nothing happened, then I think I clicked disk image again and the screen turned from the blue BIU screen to black and gray and had that "Cannot find BOOTIT.DAT".

I had to do Ctrl-alt-del.

I feel like when I do a resize it somehow is getting BIU confused or something, but this didn't used to happen until my more recent BIU usage (last month or so).

I will try to get a screenshot next time it happens...

EDIT 1: I just noticed some others (Brian K and Bob Coleman) mentioned the same/similar message in viewtopic.php?p=24822&hilit=bootit.dat#p24822, but in my case I wasn't copying partitions or using IFL... Just BIU only and doing resize partition.

that's normal, the UEFI on that system can't remount the file system.
