License KEY request

Post by borate »

A IFL recovery DVD had to be rewritten (Traditional Mode).

It requests the license key each time it's used, which was not the case with the former disk.

How can this extra step be avoided? Should Simple Mode have been used instead to create the disk?

Thanks.

It doesn't matter which mode is used.

Check the license information is correct in TBWinPE/RE Builder (I assume that's what you're using) before creating build. You should also be able to check after booting by going into the "X:\Program Files\TeraByte Drive Image Backup and Restore Suite" folder before entering the license and seeing what's saved in the ifw.ini file (might just be a typo or something).

Otherwise, please provide more information on the versions involved and exactly what type of "recovery" media it is.

CD/RW media - just as before. Same disk, written from the IFL Create Recovery Boot Disk option via the start menu selections.

Version 4.0.

For an additional check, the IFL disk was rebooted and requested the KEY. After exit to Windows, the IFW.ini showed the correct KEY info.

You entered the wrong name/key when using makedisk to create the boot media.

True, inadvertently, a version 2 key had been entered.

What misled is that inputting that key was not rejected at Makedisk outset, and the disk was successfully created.

Thanks for promptly setting things straight - as usual.

Why is that?
Isn't better a prompt indicating wrong credentials?
