When you disable "Enable Boot Drivers" it seems to drastically speeds things up. I can go from restoring a full image in 1:58, which is what I just tested at with that option enabled, to 0:26 w/ 11 seconds gathering info time.

It did work, except when it didn't. The speeds I mentioned were obtainable in my uefi version. However, in the boot.win version, which is the version that IFW auto-reboots into it did nothing new. I used the same ifw.ini in both cases. Is there a driver difference between the two versions?

enable boot drivers wouldn't make any noticeable difference. what does your restore log show from the original test.

I can't give you a restore log because every time I restore my system image the IFW directory where the log gets written gets reverted, and I'm not using a command line where I can direct the log to a different location.

How am I supposed to share the logs with you? I cannot attach .txt files or .log files.

In any case, there's another issue. While I was restoring the images for the logs I noticed that if I manually restored an image in wim built by tbwinre I get a disk locking error. If the image is restored automatically (auto-reboot and restore from IFW), using the same wim, there is no error. Why would IFW behave two different ways, in two different environments with the same ifw.ini? It behaves differently in my custom WinPE on my UEFI than it does with the tbwinre-build version; the latter not getting a lock on drives or acknowledging the write changes only option?

Do you have some sort of file explorer running while attempting to backup?
If yes, then close it to close any opened handles.

Nope. I don't. In fact, it's a RAM-based RE, so that should be impossible.

I assume the partition is not encrypted with BitLocker (IFW would unlock it before rebooting). Also, when you do a manual restore are you using the option to automatically process the messages? IFW auto-reboot uses /uy, which would ignore it (force dismount). It also resets global options to defaults (/rgd).

Correct. I'm not using Bitlocker at all. I guess I was under the assumption that all the settings were in the ifw.ini, including /uy. How can I enforce that switch?
