IFL 4.01 - No graphical interface?

Post by Fracso »

I created a boot UFD with IFL 4.01, and it booted to a line interface, not to the GUI. I also noticed that the ISO is smaller that the "normal" one. What is happening?

you create the CUI version instead of GUI version.

I found that to get the IFL GUI version I have to download the separate "installer" (a ZIP file) and build the boot ISO from it.

I think it would be less confusing if all references to IFL were deleted from the IFW installer.

There are two Drive Image Suite installers, one has the CUI IFD/IFU/IFL items, the other the GUI IFD/IFU/IFL items.

I know that. What happened was that I downloaded and installed the GUI version of the Suite, and created the IFL ISO from it. I noticed that the ISO was smaller than the "normal" one, as stated above.

With the ISO I created a UFD, and it booted to the CUI IFL version.

So my conclusion is that the IFL version included in the Suite is the CUI version, not the GUI version. To get the GUI version, I downloaded the ZIP file and created the ISO from it.

I don't know that it would make any difference, but what's the point of creating an ISO? Why not created the IFL UFD directly if that's what you want?

For whatever it's worth, I selected to create an IFL UFD as a step when installing the suite and I got a GUI IFL.
