Byte-for-byte failures

Running IFW 3.24 on a Win10 Pro system, I'm getting byte-for-byte failures.

I presume the comparison is between the image just created and what was created with VSS; is that correct? Obviously, I know where the IFW image is located, but where is the VSS image (or whatever is being used) stored.

I'm trying to determine which drive is at fault here -- the OS drive or the backup drive.

Note that there can be byte-for-byte failures in some cases where VSS is used even without an actual problem.
