Hi Brian. Thanks for your time. Here's the full story, as I recall it.
Earlier a Dell Inspiron 3148 laptop was reformatted, and W1607 installed. The size of three partitions wasn't noted then, and may have changed since, but not by much and not intentionally.
After an recent attempt at a fresh install, the RE partition gained a drive letter (D), since removed as you may note in the current layout, below. There were no files in the D:\ directory.
I never had occasion to restore "Win10_Dell_1607.TBI." When 1703 arrived I imaged "Win10_Dell_1703.TBI" - used in these failed attempts.
IFL was on a USB stick; the image was on an external USB hard drive. Surely would seem to be a typical restore. But, as noted, it balked repeatedly. Disappointing.
