Sometimes I see PHYLock using RAM and sometimes the disk for its
cache. Does it make any difference? Is one 'better' than the other?
All backups verify okay.

If the backups are successful then it shouldn't make any difference. Enabling the disk cache is recommended so PHYLock can select the method it determines best at the time the backup is created. For example, it may use RAM-only when the partition isn't "live" since there would be little or no changes taking place. It will also use RAM-only when it is unable to use a disk cache. When the disk cache is used, the RAM cache is used to handle requests needing to be saved to the disk cache (intermediary buffer).
