Hi Everyone..

I've used BING and BIBM for a number of years with great success. love this little program.

However, I've run into something on which I am stumped.

I do a LOT of system installs for my job, and I have a an extra 8gb USB thumb drive that I thought I would use for that purpose. The object was to install BIBM on the thumb drive, create partitions and then use the MSFT ISO download tool to load the DVD images on the partitions on the thumb drive. Then create a BIBM boot menu to simply select with OS I want to install.

Well, through some trickery I got BIBM to install on the drive on it's own partitions, and I created the remaining partitions using NTFS file system.

The issue is that I can not get windows to recognize the additional partitions. I googled this and apparently it has to do with Windows not recognizing extended partitions because the drive is marked as a removable drive.

Is there a way to use BIBM to accomplish what I am trying to do?

There is a lot of information from Google about the 'removable' vs
'fixed' issue on how to change one type into another.

As you want to use BIBM, I have a couple of questions. Is the drive
bootable? And does it have a partition table?

Google 'lexar usb format' for a tool to flip the removable bit. In
spit of its name, it does work on other flash drives.

It takes more than BIBM. BIBM can set it up and boot things if the BIOS
makes the device available. But, the OS must support booting from USB (even
if it was a USB hard drive), there is a script in TBOSDT to make XP
bootable on a USB hard drive. Also, if the device is removable type device
most Windows versions will only see the first partition on the drive and
ignore the others. You'd be better off using eSATA as most OSes should boot
from that without any problem.

All of the systems we have support booting from a USB thumb drive.

I can make the drive bootable and use the MSFT DVD download tool to install an OS install image on it. Then I can boot it, install the OS and be on my merry way.

What I want to accomplish is multiple partitions on the drive, with a BIBM boot menu. At that point it doesn't matter if the OS ignores the other partitions, as the one that I selected to boot should install the OS.

I have googled this subject and read about the removable drive bit flip, and I have tried the program to do so. It has not worked on either of my thumb drives.

Any help?
