Potential new user - Bit level copy or ?

I would like to use this to take an image from a HD it's not running on. i.e. a SSD connected through an USB adapter, and save that file somewhere. Then restore it to a different drive the same way. The drive may contain Linux or Windows systems.

I saw in the licensing there is a fee per restore in some cases ? Did I read that right?

Am I barking up the right tree for this kind of use ? Its not production by any means, just archiving obsolete equipment images that are impossible to replace. I'm using a physical bit level copier now, but I'd like to archive the images and restore to new disks when needed

I've been using this for decades. I never heard of a fee per restore, certainly never encountered one.

Are you talking about the paragraph in the agreement that begins with "(ii) ”IMAGE DEPLOYMENT” LICENSE."?

If so, that just explains how many images (backups) you can deploy to multiple computers. As I understand it, this is primarily for corporate purposes, typically by their IT department. For example, you have created a "clean" version of Windows 11 Pro with all the software preinstalled that your company requires. You then backup that system to create an image that you can use to install this image of Windows 11 Pro on multiple computers. Each license of Drive Image Backup and Restore Suite allows you to deploy (distribute/install/restore) this image on up to 10 computers for no additional cost. If you want to deploy this image to more than 10 computers, you have to pay $1 per computer per year (or you could buy another copy of the Suite, for 10 more deployment licenses, but that wouldn't be cost effective).

If you are considering buying the Suite for personal use, you can probably ignore the deployment paragraph (unless you have way too many computers at home!).

If this is not what you are talking about, then please copy and paste the section you read that makes you think there is a "fee per restore".

You're only partially correct, the Image Deployment License is a restore-only add-on license for a companies internal use that allows them to restore an image (created from a machine covered by a normal full license) to additional systems (not covered by a full, but covered by the Image Deployment License - which sticks with the system).

The Free 10 and $1 per system has to do with the TBNetManage product to manage the systems from a central location, it doesn't grant any additional rights to allow restoring on unlicensed systems. Every system being restored for needs either a normal full or or Image Deployment License covering it.

For personal/non-business use, a single license covers up to 5 systems in the household.
