Unable to Access the Media

When I try to image my drive I get this message ‘Unable to Access the Media’. I have a dual boot system, Windows 10 Pro 64 bit and Elementary OS Linux 64 bit. I'm using the windows version of IFW v.3.53 to image the drive.

Does the message mean IFW cannot access the target drive or the drive I’m trying to image? Is the dual boot causing the problem?

I’ve allowed the program access through Malwarebytes and Kaspersky. Can anyone think of a solution to the problem please?

can you send the ifw.log contents (blue icon in settings). It sounds like something is blocking it..

It appears the error comes when trying to enable options on the VSS handle. What does your list of partitions list look like (screen shot perhaps). VSS should be rejecting the linux volumes, but it may not be as they constantly change VSS. We support attempts in case a linux fs driver was installed, but seeing the list will help where we may add additional logic for non MS file systems if they get added to VSS for some reason.

In any environment you can use a digital camera, In windows you can PrtScrn or Alt-PrtScrn (active Windows) then paste the image. You can also use QnE Companion (https://www.terabyteunlimited.com/qnecompanion) which has an easy to use screen capture feature.

yep, thanks, and I presume if you backed up everything but the Ext 2/3/4 partition you don't get that issue...
