Just for completeness, this legacy system Win10 x64 Intel I7 16G RAM and the Synology NAS are on a TP Link TL-SG1016DE.

And funny thing, I had tried one of those Green Trendnet things (looked like the picture you sent, but not sure if same model) and it lasted about 30 minutes before I ripped it out and replace it with something that didn't slow the entire network down.

EDIT: I went and looked in the network switch drawer to see if I still had it, yep, it was a TEG-S16Dg, I don't remember the exact issue, but it wasn't up to par.

LOL -  TL-SG1016DE has the same power reduction technology, according to their website.

Well whatever. I'll pick up that model and give it a shot. I need more ports anyway.
