Restore slow with TBIView/Mount

Post by Tony95 »

I have added a new NVME drive and am trying to restore from my backup but I am getting sector size is 4096 and 512 byte sector is required. So, I can't restore the normal way. I am trying to do a file restore from a mounted image but it is incredibly slow. It is going to take 5-7 days to restore 4TB. Why is it so slow and how can I speed it up? It is not the source or destination drives, they are both very fast. The original backup only took about 6 hours.

use copywin.tbs - it will still be slower than restoring normally because it has to bounce around accessing data, but it handles other issues for you.

Thanks, I'll check it out. My mounted image seems to be running faster, maybe something was hitting my nas and I didn't realize it. Still kinda slow but I should have essential files by morning.

copywin will enable caching and other things, but will still be slower than an actual normal restore (plus, it handles all the extra stuff that needs to be done with permissions and such).
