2Tb to 4Tb solution

Post by atomeromu »

Hi All! Sorry I`m new to the forum and to these softs and looking for a bit of a help. So I bought a Panasonic CF53 MK4 with multiple Windows partitions already installed ( Win 7 32bit, Win 10 64bit) Every OS has special software installed hence diff OS`s. System is on a 2058Gb Kingspec ssd and everything is working so far BUT! I didn`t know this system has this "high quality" ssd so wanted to make a copy of it to a proper ssd.
Problems I have:
-Donor ssd is 2058Gb which won`t fit to a 2Tb samsung ssd because it is exactly 2000Gb.
-I bought a 4Tb samsung ssd later on I`ll be able to expand a space for each OS if necessary but MBR can only handle up to 2Tb and GPT can`t handle
Win 7 32bit OS.
So looking for a solution on how can I make a working copy of my original 2Tb system to a 4Tb new samsung ssd. System reinstall is not an option as I have to pay for everything again and it costed me a fortune... All software are hardware id locked to the motherboard and not to the ssd thankfully. I owe a BootIt and Terabyte complete bundle. I uploaded a few pictures of my existing system setup and attached a links to them here: https://ibb.co/fnGFd3R

Any help will be appreciated, thanks!

atomeromu ,

You can copy to that 2000 GB SSD. Make sure "Automatic Scaling Restrictions" is selected and In Options, select "Scale to Fit".

First I`ll make a full backup and than will try to copy it to the 2Tb ssd the way you mentioned it. Is there a way to make it work on a 4Tb system? I really need to upgrade some of my software and they need more space?

You could restore an entire drive image instead of doing a copy.

Win7 32-bit presents a problem if you have a 4 TB GPT disk. How about two 2 TB drives? MBR system.

If you don't use the optical drive it could be removed and replaced by a 2 TB SSD.

Finally was able to do a full backup of the 2Tb system before I try to do anything. As a next step I followed your advice and tried to make a copy of the system but it failed for some reason. I`m really not an expert but really have no idea what went wrong. Here you can find a pic of the error message I got: https://ibb.co/dfDcGHj

Dirty file system. Chkdsk /f the partition before copy, ensure fast startup is disabled.

I`ve made a few changes as I really need to expand the BMW partition with an extra 50Gb. My question is, is there any faster way to add the free space what I have created to this BMW partition rather than slide up all the way to the BMW partition? It takes ages to slide hence the partition sizes I have to slide. https://ibb.co/VWQtWDM

You will need to slide partitions to be able to resize BMW. You could try doing the slides in IFL partwork as it can be faster than BIBM partwork.
