Installing W10 on an MBR Win7 Machine

Post by plain »

I'm going to try Win10 so I hope you guys can point me to an article here to install Win10 on a MBR drive that already has Win7. I read one KB about making them boot independently which is great since I still want to use BIBM as my boot manager. I have the Win10 USB key to install from. Thanks for your help!

plain,

See page 74 in the BIBM user manual.
There are some videos on...

https://www.terabyteunlimited.com/howto/

... written for BING but the same principles apply.

Okay Thanks Brian. So I got Windows 10 installed and when BIBM tried to boot it from the boot menu I get the message... "The configured boot partition was not recognized." . If I use Direct Boot I can boot the partition. I will have to investigate further. Thanks for your reply.

plain,

In your Boot Item, what is in the Boot field?

Do you have a System Reserved partition on the HD?

Doh! I didn't specify in the Boot Field! Thanks for your patience. BIBM and the rest of the TeraByte stuff works so well, I forget sometimes how to find my mistakes since I rarely change anything.
