Ok, I think I’m on something:

It runs fine with VSS… doing the backup on another external drive. So, it appears that maybe my Seagate USB3 drive is corrupted, or dying!

Go figure, it’s working fine now on any external drive…

- I’ve ran a drive diagnostic all night and my portable USB3 drive is fine.

It could be that :

- I’ve re-checked « Lock Unsupported Volumes » and « Ignore Unsupported Volumes » (with « Agressive locking » in extra or/and
- that I’ve disabled Hibernation, thus gaining a lot of space on the drive. Got rid too of a big folder of an old Windows install. The SSD was 90 Gb free before and 142 after this. I would guess that VSS needs a certain amount of space?

Anyway, case closed and thanks for your support.
