I have a 160GiB PATA hard disk installed in my old Windows XP laptop.
The BIOS will only see 128GiB of this disk, and I have the latest BIOS
installed.

In BiBM, Partition Work only sees 128GiB, unless I change the Bus
field to BIOS (Direct), in which case all the disk is seen.

Is it safe to set 'Bus' to 'BIOS (Direct)' and create partitions in
this last area of the hard drive? What problems could occur if I use
the last 32GiB of my hard drive in this way?

That's interesting.

I've been under the impression that any partition beyond the 128 GB mark was subject to data loss. I have a laptop with a 128 GB (BIOS) HD limitation. I'll have to look around the house for a larger HD.

Will my laptop boot if I move the BiBM partition to the true end of
the drive?

Can BiBM boot a partition that resides completely in the last 32GiB of
the drive? E.g. my IFL partition?

Are there any special BiBM settings needed to accomplish this?

Tom, good questions.

No, your booting is limited to the BIOS area. BIOS (direct) is available in
Partition Work (and imaging).
