IFW restore after hardware change ?.

Post by alexsunny123 »

Hello,

A friend is evaluating the program and poses this scenario...

SATA hard drive dies and is replaced with another brand/capacity or even type, perhaps an SSD.

Will he be able to restore his IFW image via the DOS rescue disk?
What prompts might he expect to see?
Any obstacles to overcome?

Of course, after IFW is installed on the new drive, he can always rescue individual files via TBIview.

thanks

Yes restore with scale to fit, if drive is smaller see https://www.terabyteunlimited.com/kb/article.php?id=554 for more details.

I made an IFW back up and reset Windows 10. The reset did not save my Mozilla Thunderbird address book or local folders. I used TBIView but it would not show the profile folder that has the data that I need. The path to the folder is: C:\Users\<your Windows login username>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\. The Profile folder is a hidden folder according to Thunderbird. Can TBIView show and copy hidden folders?

It's available here, in a Windows 11 image file. All folders in the T-Bird Profile are displayed at the right.
