IFW making backup image

My desktop has IFW v3.30 running on it. I have a drive that I have connected to the computer via USB that I want to make an image of. This drive is a 40gig sata drive and it failed when i tried to make the image of the drive. I found that it has bad sectors on it.

Is there a way, hopefully a fast way, to make an image of this drive and have IFW ignore the bad sectors (if it cant read the sector, it just skips it after say three attempts to keep things moving) so i can complete a backup instead of it just failing?

any help is very much appreciated!

You can use the "Ignore IO Errors" option. Be aware that the backup may take a long time due to trying to read the bad sectors.

I understand, thank you so much for the fast response.

I do have some follow-up questions:

Is there any way in the world to make it faster? Is there a way to have a "rapid marking of bad sectors". For the last 1 hour now it has been "stuck" on the same exact sector (according to the read out of where it is at in the process according to the IFW software screen). The time remaining goes up, but, no "progress" or remaining or "processed".

There is no indication that this is actually still working outside of the time remaining keeps going up.

Maybe if it would rapidly bad sector "mark" the drive, then do the imaging, at least it would be reasonably faster. Just an idea...can this be an option added to the software?

ALSO AN UPDATE: Now at the 2.5 hour mark, it has not moved at all. Only thing that moved is the time remaining and it now says 37 hours, but the "Remaining" and the "processed" is still the same.

The drive itself takes a long time to respond, you may need to leave it
quite a while. Once it passes them, it will speed back up.
