Hi,

I've been using BIBM to manage my boot partitions for years.
I don't understand what the difference is between BIBM and BootIt UEFI.

Is there any reason to move to BootIt UEFI? I don't use any partition or backup options.

You don't need it. BIU is for UEFI systems with the OS on a GPT disk.

I take it the UEFI stuff is all about partition management etc - and the Boot partition stuff is pretty much the same?

sorry - I meant the *BootIt UEFI* stuff

I know GPT and UEFI is all about partitioning disks, MBTs etc - and BIBM works with both - that's why I don't get what makes *BootIt UEFI* different.
Is it just that it doesn't work anymore with "legacy" GPT partitions?

Nothing needs to be changed on an existing system that is working. BIBM won't work on a UEFI system.

Why do you say "legacy GPT". "Legacy" usually refers to something older which has been at least partly superseded by something newer. If I were going to use "legacy" in this context, I'd use it with MBR, not GPT.

Not meaning to nitpick, but I'm wondering if this actually indicates a misunderstanding.

I still don't get why there is a need for a separate UEFI product - but it's not a big deal.

There is no separate UEFI product. BIU is for UEFI. BIBM is for Legacy/MBR. Totally different products.

I meant *My* sarcasm.I was being sarcastic when I called GPT "legacy".

What do you mean they're not separate products when you just called them separate products?


EDIT - I think there is probably some misunderstanding by me too - because looking back, I *should* have said "legacy" MBR.
Oh well, now that we're all totally confused - I'll just stick with BIBM.

I know that all the replies have meant to be helpful and I was only trying to be funny myself - so hopefully there are no hard feelings, and I'll just remain a little confused
