BIBM to BIU

I was attempting to convert my 5 year old HP laptop to BIU. I have BIBM
installed and did not uninstall it before trying to install BIU. I
first enabled UEFI in the BIOS and when attempting to boot the BIU USB
installer I received the following messages. Are these BIU messages?
System UEFI Version 2.0.10 is not supported.
UEFI Version 2.1 or later is required.
System Halted - Press R to reset the system

btw does R reset the system for you?

If BIBM is installed, the disk on which it is installed must be MBR or EMBR, I think.
I was thinking BIU has to be installed on a GPT disk, but I may not be completely understanding the relationship between GPT and UEFI.

Yes, my current setup is BIBM/EMBR/legacy and I had wanted to convert to
BIU/GPT/UEFI. I guess my old BIOS wont allow that and I do have all
updates and latest BIOS version applied.
I suspect there will be other folks attempting some sort of similar
conversion and I think it would be very helpful if there was a how-to on
the proper steps on making these conversions. These were the steps I had
planned, someone please correct/improve as I could be way offbase:
Backup system
Make BIU install USB stick and have BIBM install USB at the ready for
fallback.
Change BIOS from legacy to UEFI
Boot to BIU USB stick
Install BIU
Convert disk from EMBR to GPT in BIU.
Reboot into Win and install new Bootnow/UEFI.

If you mean reboot, no. It did nothing at all that I could discern.

there is a script to convert to/from gpt for you. chgdtype.tbs

Related question. New GPT Disk, New BIU, New Op. Sys Install. What should I do first. Install Op. Sys, or BIU? Or doesn't it matter?

You could do it either way. However, if you install BIU first you would end up with a larger EFI System partition. If you plan on installing more than a few operating systems you'll probably need more than the 100MB normally used. You can always make it larger later if necessary, but that might mean having to slide/resize a larger partition.

I tried that, but it didn't work. I'd have to try it again to remember exactly what happened though.
