IFW Copy
IFW Copy
I have a server that needs more storage so I added new drives and created a new RAID 1 volume. I want to use IFW and Copy the current drive to the new drive and then boot to the new drive. What does it take to make the new drive bootable and be able to choose between OS options?

Re: IFW Copy
Install your RAID driver, then just do an entire drive copy, remove the old
drives. If you're leaving them, use the change disk id/guid option.
If you want to add the RAID driver afterwards, use the osdtool.tbs script to
install it.

Re: IFW Copy
Is there any way to boot to the new drives without unplugging the old drives? Unplugging the drives and booting past the RAID screen will cause us to have to import them if I had to go back to the old drives. I was expecting to see the boot loader with the OS choices.

Re: IFW Copy
you'll need to use the change disk id and guids option if leaving the
originals in.

Re: IFW Copy
I did that and still was not given a boot choice.

Re: IFW Copy
It's not going to give you a boot choice, you choose the drive to boot in
your BIOS or via it's BBS menu.
You'd have to use something like BCD edit and add another new entry for the
other OS.

If you have the OS on a GPT disk you might be able to use TBOSDT...
SET UEFI BOOTNEXT bootnum
