TeraByte Unlimited

I know the networking card in my laptop is causing hardware problems.
Internet access is BAD. A USB external networking card is working. I may
ask a local guy to look it over next week.

There may also be software stuff.

After a restore, sound was disabled. Reboot. It's there.
Thunderbird would not run (after it had already been running minutes
before) Reboot. It runs.

At one point I could not delete messages in Thunderbird. I shut it down
and restarted it. Now I could delete. No, no other changes were made.

Am considering imaging what I now have and then restoring an image from
May 2015 that would need LOTS of MS updates plus other programs.

It is is ram, that might not be necessary or useful.

Could faulty ram cause such weirdnesses? There are 2 sims of 4 GB each.
It seems to be getting more intense with time.

I did a 12 hour test with Memtest86. No errors. I left it that long for
a thorough test. Both modules were relatively new.

It may be worth a test with the 2015 image.Since I did not do MS updates
there, it is possible there is VERY little else installed then.
I can put this one back on if it does not work well.

The image size was too large for restore. Maybe there was an easier wat
to do it and it DID work.

I restored to a USB drive that has enough room. Then I resized it in
BIBM. Then used BIBM to copy it to the C partition after deleting the
existing one. I had to edit boot stuff to get it working.

Am now working on updating really important stuff before I reimage it.

Is it working okay? Not enough time yet to be sure.

Wouldn't be surprised if it overheats. I did move it a bit more off the
table so there is more air circulation underneath.

So far, the old restore (early 2015) has functioned well. It took a bit
of updating since it was so old.

dust accumulation in those very tight spaces inside - blocking air
circulation.

I can have a friend check out the fans when he checks the networking
card, probably next week. I think he said he cleaned my other laptop
when he replaced the keyboard.

I run Speedfan (http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php) on my machines to watch/monitor temps and fan speeds.

Also, have you checked for viruses?
