Support for RAID 0 Dynamic Disks

Post by martyfelker »

It looks like from the notification boxes Image for Windows 2.97 displays I can't image a dynamic disk volume (mirrored) . If tihs is the case I'm hoping that this functionality can be added to future versions. I have purchased bot Image for Windows, Image for Linux and BTBM.

Hello,

No, the proprietary dynamic drive layout is not supported. You shouldn't be
using them, use a firmware based RAID controller instead. Within Windows
the volume is transparent to anything (including IFW using VSS), but upon
restoring it's not the same at all.

Well I'm sorry to hear that. I've used dynamic disk since Windows 2000 without any problems. I guess BTBM won't recognize dynamic disks either so until I revert to Linux from Windows 10 that does not seem likely. At this time VMware can't installed on on Linux with kernel 4.x - fortunately I backed up my VMware and Virtualbox folders to a removable drive and they work fine with Workstation with Windows. Perhaps you'll decide otherwise when version 3.x is released. I guess I cold use the software on Windows VMs - Ill see.
