Weird timings

Post by mjnelson99 »

I started using my older laptop since the newer one broke. I had to take
out the hard drive & put in in an external USB case to remove my stuff
before sending it for repairs. Plus copied lots of files to other USB
hard drive.

I was getting weird sound & video problems on that older computer.

I did create an image first using IFW, just in case. Imaged to a USB
hard drive using IFW. It took about an hour with B-F-B validation.

Restored an image from Dec 2013 using IFL. Imaged that when I had a few
things caught up, no MS updates yet. It took about 25 minutes to SD card
to complete.

I was careless and did not have a more recent image. Maybe that earlier
date is a boon even if more work to update.

Now IFW is working much faster and so far no audio or video problems.
IE9 was opening slowly, too. Now it is fast.

Gunk happens over time.

Over 9 months with no backup? I bet you aren't too happy with that
scenario.

I started years ago making Full Disk backups (3 partitions) to an
internal hard drive every night with IFW,and never regretted that
decision, plus time involved is only about 40 minutes. I even
automatically clone a second external USB hard drive after each image
completes.

Never could understand making incremental or differential images, as
long as I have plenty of HD space.

I suspect I overwrote the more current images when I purchased a new
computer in Feb 2014. The Dec image was on the D partition.

What's a hundred MS updates, anyway?
