Using IFW 2.89 and VSS, after correcting the documented IVssWriterCallback COM permissions error, the next image I created gave me new and identical errors in the event log at the start and end of the backup, which I can't find anything about WRT their possible effect on IFW. The errors both were:
*****
Event ID: 513
Source: CAPI2
Cryptographic Services failed while processing the OnIdentity() call in the System Writer Object.
Details:
AddLegacyDriverFiles: Unable to back up image of binary Microsoft Link-Layer Discovery Protocol.
System Error:
Access is denied.
*****
Is this another essentially "cosmetic" error? Do you know how to get rid of it?

Re: VSS CAPI2 error at start of backup
What version of Windows? GPT disk?
Is it a particular partition causing the error?
Do you have either of the VSS Lock/Ignore options enabled in IFW settings?

Re: VSS CAPI2 error at start of backup
Sorry, it was Windows 8.1, MBR disk with just the Windows boot and system partitions. Bitlocker is enabled. I was backing up the whole drive.
I haven't tried imaging any other partitions.
The only VSS option that was enabled was "Use VSS when available".

Re: VSS CAPI2 error at start of backup
All those types of things are related to VSS components itself and not to
IFW. Best bet is to search the Internet for others with the same problem.
