Is IFD What I Need?

Post by Big_Al_C »

Forum,

Setup:

Windows 7 Pro SP-1 64-Bit

ASRock P67 PRO3 (B3) MoBo with UEFI BIOS.

i5-2500K CPU

16 Gigs Of Corsair Vengeance

120GB Boot SSD

Situation:

1 & 2TB STORAGE Advance Format HDD's Aligned and set MBR

with 4 NTFS and 1 Fat32 Partitions full of Data

3TB Backup Advance Format HDD Aligned and set GPT

Empty and Pre-partitioned with 4 NTFS and 1 Fat32 partitions

Can IFD copy partition content from the MBR disks to the GPT one?

Can content from a full GPT disk partition be copied to an empty MBR partition?

Can IFD make its own Bootable CD?

Thank you,

Big Al

For practical purposes, yes.

MAKEDISK.exe comes with IFD and can be used to make a bootable IFD CD.

With no familiarity with GPT disks, I can't answer the other questions.

You can copy partitions between MBR and GPT disks (assuming the content will fit). However, if it's an OS partition don't expect it to be bootable. Should be fine with data partitions, though you'll probably need to reassign your drive letters how you want.
