Bug in IFL_nonet 2.85

Post by TAC109 »

Last Friday I downloaded IFL_nonet_eng_gui 2.85 (the latest) and used
Makedisk to burn a CD.

Although I copy & pasted the Linux product key when requested by
Makedisk, the resulting CD asked for the product key again when
booted.

I repeated the process using Makedisk, with the same result.

When I tried again with IFL_nonet_eng_gui 2.83, which I had
downloaded previously, the same process produced a CD which worked
properly, and didn't prompt for the product key.

Could Terabyte check this out? Thanks.

Tom, all OK here. Did you use Default or Custom settings in Makedisk? Was it an IFL serial that was requested or a BIBM serial?

Default settings.

I was updating a friend's IFW package - she has her own licence. BiBM
was not involved.

Last Friday I was copy&pasting the serial from the Terabyte web site
with IFL 2.85.

Yesterday I typed it in to Makedisk with the working IFL 2.83 (we had
written down the s/n so she could use the 2.85 CD I created on
Friday).

Tom, this may not be relevant but if you use Default settings with Makedisk you don't get the opportunity to enter the BIBM serial so you do get asked for the BIBM serial in IFL.

Isn't the IFL serial number different from BIBM's number?
Since I don't have that program, not sure.

I do know that both IFD & IFL I use share the same short #.

Thanks Brian. Your comments caused me to check out the procedure
again. The problem was to do with the IFL product key, not BiBM, which
my friend is not licensed for.

However, I see what went wrong originally. The product key for IFL is
displayed on the Terabyte web site on a separate line with a leading
space! Copying & pasting included this space which was not apparent
unless the cursor was moved to the beginning of the field.

Removing this space from the license field in Makedisk fixed the
problem.

Perhaps Terabyte could remove this leading space from the product key
display on their web site?

Yes. When you do a Custom Makedisk with IFL you are asked for both serials.
