IFL for PC/MAC

Since I have already taken the step to create an Apple BootCamp
partition on my MacBook Pro, the question arises: when I create a whole
disk image of my hybrid PC/MAC HD, should I continue to select FILE
option (DIRECT), or should I be selecting (OS)?
My question also applies to the use of the IFL boot disk for Restore
functions, whether whole HD or selected partitions.
