i think part of it was what I mentioned earlier.... changing the size of the ESP, and the MS reserved partition... I think it confused BIU... remember I said everytime I booted I got the message about not finding boot.it.

I don't understated that either.
What was the Microsoft.xxx for Win10?

Hi Brian,
Sorry about this, but FYI, when I did the Win10 install earlier, I noticed that I ended up with Win10 Home, but I wanted Win10 Pro, so after we got done last night, I re-installed Windows 10 Pro. (I think the product key I used was the reason that happened).
I did that by using BIU to boot to the Window 10 Pro USB stick and then entered a different Win 10 Pro product key and during the Windows install, I told the Windows installer to format the partition that I had installed the Windows 10 in earlier.
That actually kind of worked. I still have 2 items in the BIU boot menu and I can boot to Windows 10 Pro or to Windows 11 Pro via BIU.
However, after that, when i boot to win10, I still see the win11 partition; and when i boot to win11, I see the win0 partition.
So, I tried to use BIU boot edit to hide the "opposite windows version partition", but I noticed:
- If I hide the win10 partition in the win 11 boot item, that worked fine, but
- If I hide the windows 11 partition in the win10 boot item, and then try to windows boot start but it gets to the page with the spinning circle and stays there forever. I I unhide the windows 11 partition in the win10 boot item, then win10 boots ok.
Also I was going to try to answer your question today but when i go into partition and click BCD Edit, I get a message "no bcd store"
That "no bcd store" message appears with both the win10 and in the win11 partitions

...

Select the ESP and then click BCD Edit. You did this yesterday and you will need to do it again on both OS. Yesterday you did...
Try this first. In Part Work, select the ESP, BCD Edit. Select the line showing Microsoft.001, OK.
Menu, Edit
Device, Edit
Choose the Partition Windows-SSD, OK
OS Device, Edit
Choose the Partition Windows-SSD, OK (same as above)
Close, Close
Restart
Boot Win11
Let us know if that works.
Just do Win11 for the time being.

AACK ! I forgot that we had done the BCD edit on the ESP.... FYI, today, I was (mistakenly) trying to do the BCD edit on the Windows partition... stupid

!!!
Ok I did the steps above, and it booted into Win11.
But (again sorry) why were you asking me to do those?
Was it because of what I mentioned about hiding the partition?

You need to know which Microsoft.xxx is which so you can do the BCD Edit.
It's in the Boot File field of your Boot Items

I think:
Microsoft.001 ==> Win11
Microsoft.002 ==> Win10
Isn't that correct?

Excellent.
Now do a BCD Edit on Win10...
In Part Work, select the ESP, BCD Edit. Select the line showing Microsoft.002, OK.
Menu, Edit
Device, Edit
Choose the Partition Windows10-SSD, OK
OS Device, Edit
Choose the Partition Windows10-SSD, OK (same as above)
Close, Close
Restart
Boot Win10
