I had a strange problem too, but had to do with a bug processing the hash file.
Do you use a hash? If so, turn it off and see if the problem goes away.

Mine was corrected in [#PUZ-678-12931] . Sorry, I don't know what it means, but terabyte should. and if the problem is related to a hash, this ticket may help.

Well - the memory is dual-channel, so either DIMM is the culprit. I pulled one DIMM - we'll see - it succeeded last night, but I think it has to go a couple of weeks without an issue....

I was getting pretty regular BSODs on my laptop. The error was
frequently tied to memory.

I thought, What the heck? I want more memory anyway.

I removed both 2 GB dimms. New 4 GB dimm and no more BSODs.

provided you get the correct one out first, that be good. The bad one being

well, I pulled one 2 days ago and the failures stopped so far. - Stay Tuned!
I wonder if it was the DIMM or the contacts - I.e., if I put the one I pulled back in - could re-seating it fix it? (not being cheap, replacement is only $20 - just wondering)

doubt it, typically your system doesn't work at all when that is needed.

I have heard that a pencil eraser* works well for this too.

*We used to call them 'rubbers', but that word has been hijacked for
another item these days .

Well - 6 days, and failed only once, so apparently 1 DIMM was an issue - but both of them? So replace both DIMMs? (if that's a likely fix I'm up for it, but...)

you can try the other one if you want. it's most likely memory, but it
could still be something like the cable or even interference from the power
supply.
