Thanks for the replies, this raises a couple of questions.

"Double check your boot item and ensure you don't have bios sequence or next
bios device checked."

** Are you refering to the Boot Details or One Time Option? In the manual it instructs to choose one of those options in the One Time Option?

"ensure the order of the partitions match the
boot.ini in the partition."

** I found the Edit Files in the Work With Partitions area but in the XP partition all it shows is a directory named System Volume Information with a Tracking Log, no Boot.ini file.

A Side Note - Wish you guys at Support would do a new tutorial that demonstrates adding a new OS to an existing Win 7 configuration. The video you refered me to is for installing XP as the first OS, I'm sure adding an OS to Win 7 is far more common these days and a bit more complex. I get the impression here that I am the first person to attempt this because there doesn't seem to be a clear and organized path to getting this accomplished.

No. It's the easiest part of the whole business .

You cannot. If boot.ini says the xp partition is in position two, but in the MBR is is position 1 it will not boot. I rearrance the MBR to match the boot.ini rather than editing the file.

There is noting special about what you are trying to do and the video covers all the basics. The steps I outlined earlier I do for the installs of ALL OSs.

It has been so long since I limited primaries, so was not 110% the MBR could be edited if primaries were limited.

Maybe I have a bad slipstream install disc. I'm getting a different install disc from a guy in about an hour. I'll let you know if that makes any difference. At this point should I delete the XP Partition and start from scratch?

Yes, definitely. To save time during the install, select the quick format option. Good luck.

Yes, the video covers steps but the results in real life are completely different than the video. When I do the steps in the video I get completely different results in real life on my computer. For example when I get to the part where I'm supposed to select Boot... in the video a dialog asks if "you want to boot to drive A?", for me that question never appears, it goes right to a black screen telling me to insert a boot disc in drive A which does not exist on this machine. So here I am stuck at a point that is not covered in either the video or the manual. So what do I do now, start over again and try something different????? It's clear to me that the video is completely useless and following the steps in the manual did not get me any results either. I really do not know what to do now. This is very frustrating. I think the company needs to create a new set of videos and and new manual that match, and have clear outlines or flow charts of the steps needed.

Could you please let me know exactly which video you are watching? I
am more than happy to look at it and tell you which bits are
outdated/misleading.

If you follow my workflow earlier in the thread, you should install
with success.

I have said something similar to TBU in the past. I am not happy with
the style of the documentation as it is clearly written by somebody
who knows the software inside out; but it *needs* to be proof read by
somebody who does not. The docs have many areas that say something
like "tick box to enable feature 'x' and clear the box to disable it"
without actually explaining what 'x' does - drives me nuts.

If your NTFS partition is preformatted you get the new message, which you
treat just like the other one says is not booted, if you want the same basic
message to show up, don't format the NTFS partition when you create it. In
either case, after booting the boot item you press ctl-alt-del to start
booting the XP installation media. Then choose the existing partition you
created for it (should be marked C:). Like mentioned before, if you have
multiple drives, keep an eye on what XP thinks the various drive numbers
are.

Well said!

Might very well shoot TB sales skyward if a more user friendly approach
to documentation were implimented.
