You can put it wherever you like. It's all done from whatever directory you extract the zip to.

I deleted my /var/ifl folder and it's contents..
I created a folder /usr/ifl and copied the iflcui package contents to it.
Ran setup installed and ran fine.

Is there a benefit to running the grub stuff and having it as a boot option ?
