I'm sure that somehow, I'm the ONLY Windows user who has experience this.

HOW DO I STOP WINDEFEND FROM RESTARTING. Literally all I care about.

no i'm going to have to do a repair install to fix this.

specifically created a restore point before creating my image but no luck, as that image wasn't backed up.

then hope that setting both UseFilesToNotBackup and UseFilesToNotSnapshot to 0 prevents this rom happening again due to including restore points.

You could check those registry entries (or the .log) to see if you have something listed there.

If you don't include those, you could get validate issues if the file changes (typically the not to backup are still in the snapshot, just may not handle changes, the not to snapshot are not even in the snapshot).

Once it's working, chkdsk /f to ensure all clean.
