error on ifw backup

1st time ive seen this: 'the image stream is corrupt, please exit & restart the program'
was backing up D partiton on hd0 to backup partition on hd0, had previously bu vista, which is also on hdo, sucessfully, also deb squeeze on hd2 bu ok.
this was on my #2 computer.
backups have gone ok on my #1 computer with the new version.
i just updated from v277 to v291 last week & the bu's went ok on #2 computer then.
i did a chkdsk on c:, d: & the bu partition & rebooted but have got the erorr 3 times now.

just happened again, for the 4th time, after successfully bu the C partition which is on the same hd, these are full bu's.
i also validated the bu of d partition i made last week ok

by the way i notice ifw & bootit dont see the hd's the same: bootit sez my d partiton is on hd0 & ifw sez its on hd2. what up with that?

just tried bu D parttion with ifl cd & also got error. very weird since i bu 2 other partitons on the same hd with no problem. it suddenly can't validate that parttion, its only data, the other 2 partitons that worked are systems.
i can think of no major changes to the computer between this week & last.

I had a constant Image Stream Corrupt error on my Win7 Pro computer using a USB drive connection to back up drives. Tested everything - new USB drive dock, Fresh Win7 install, Windows 8 OS, new MLB (bricked the old MLB flashing the BIOS), new IFW V.293 to V.296 and correct USB 3 drivers but the error prevailed. IFW trial version worked just fine in another Win7 computer (near identical twin of the failing computer). Finally, after I was ready to get out the sledge hammer, it dawned on me that I had not tested RAM. Sure enough a RAM test revealed that the RAM had failed and corrupted the image stream. There were no other indications of a RAM problem other than the Image Stream Corrupt Error. I was using 4 identical bank interleaved mocules with a CAS of 9. There was some timing anomoly that killed IFW backup and caused the Image Stream Corrupt error. Mixing an 8 GB CAS 11 module and one of the 4 GB modules fixed the memory timing issue (the memory test now passed) and the Image Stream Corrupt error.
