restart boot hang

Post by novice »

Hello,
Got and Asus M5A97 mb with 3 hd's
The drives are 2 ssd's and 1 hd
Have windows7 and bibm installed on ssd 1
Windows8.1 on ssd 2
The hd is for data

Curious thing happening lately
Whenever I restart the pc from within either windows it will hang on the asus screen and not proceed to the bibm screen
I have to shut down the pc and start it up again to get past the asus screen and on to the bibm boot screen.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Bernard,

In your BIOS, is CSM Enabled or Disabled? Is your Secure Boot setting.. Other OS?

I would also check for a BIOS update. The latest ASUS board I have often doesn't boot some devices correctly on warm boots (requires a power down).

Yes, your help seems to have paid off.
I updated the bios but that did not fix it.
Had a 2tb usb data drive which I unplugged and that fixed it.
Can now readily do a "warm" reboot.
Thanks for your time.
