I must be missing something, I am a long time IFW user and have never had any issues creating IFL boot discs until last night. I decided to upgrade to the latest version of IFW/IFL and create a new IFL boot disc. I tried the process on two different laptops - both 64-bit machines (never tried them before this), one was running Win7 and the other Win8. Both gave the same results - I would get to the "insert bland disc" prompt and it just kept repeating. I tried 3 different blank (CDs) in each machine but none of them would get past repeating the prompt. I had VCD installed on the Win7 machine and tried creating a virtual blank CD with the same results.
Eventually I gave up and installed IFW2.92 on a 16-bit desktop (Win7) and it quite happily allowed me to create an IFL boot disk - both virtual and "real".
What am I missing? Why wouldn't the process work with the 64-bit laptops? It's gotta be something simple - it just isn't in my knowledge base
Thanks for the help and a great product!

Re: Can't create boot disc on 64-bit machines
Peter,
I use SD cards for IFL. It boots faster than a CD.
It takes little time to create the bootable SD card on
my Win 7 X64 laptop. I do make sure the install code is
entered on creation.
I have no idea why you could not create a bootable CD, though.

Re: Can't create boot disc on 64-bit machines
insert the blank disk and let it draw in the tray. If it bumps it out,
close manually, wait about 15 seconds and press enter. Ensure those discs
are blank. Ensure you don't have a CD software installed conflicting. Has
nothing to do with x64 windows.

Re: Can't create boot disc on 64-bit machines
I have 3 laptops - 2 of them high end gaming machines (both 64-bit), none of them have the capability to "draw in the tray", I have never seen a laptop that did...
I seriously doubt I have any "CD software installed conflicting" - the laptop with Win8 has Chrome, COMODO and Cyberlink video editing software, nothing else. I don't think any of these qualify as conflicting software.
I tried on my 3rd laptop (my daughter was finally taking a break from Sims3) - it is a 32-bit machine running Win 7 and I was able to create an IFL boot disc straight away.
So in summary, 4 computers, 2 x 32-bit and 2 x 64-bit. I can create IFL boot disks on the 32-bit machines and it fails on the 64-bit machines.
But thanks for help

Re: Can't create boot disc on 64-bit machines
it's something on those machines or the drives - x64 windows is what most
people are using - it doesn't have to do with it being x64 windows.
