Bootmgr is Missing

Post by fastrack1966 »

I have been using the image create-restore function of BING to secure complete system backups of my Windows OS for years. In this case it is a Windows 7 image using the latest BootitNG. Upon restore I checked the partition was still active in view MBR but on booting to the hard drive get the above error message. Does anyone have any ideas for me please? I hope it is a careless oversight. I can reinstall the OS again but am afraid any subsequent image create-restore will only produce the same error meaning my imaging is useless!

Do you have the 100 MB partition with the boot files?
Not sure that is the message you would get with that being missing?

I updated to BIBM. It is more flexible.

Indeed I checked my working PC and of course it has a system reserved 100 Mb partition. When I view what I have on the nonbooting PC this is missing. Trouble is I elected, I think, to image the whole disk not a partition. I bought BIBM lately, I labelled my CD BootIt "v 2.04" . I am not aware there was a way of leaving out the 100 Mb partition, who would want to?!

I did a clean install myself and did not get it. I created and marked
Active before the install. Then it is not there.

Win 7 Home Premium doesn't need it. Pro might.

The above link describes how to do a repair. It should work.

the only way the partition wouldn't be in the backup is if the wasn't a full
backup (it will say partial next to the drive). It would only not restore
if it wasn't a full drive restore. So if you did a full drive backup, just
do a full drive restore.
