I'm sure that this has been raised before. In fact, I may have raised it myself some years ago. However, I can't find anything through Search. I am trying to use BING, booting from a USB flash drive with An Acer Aspire 1 netbook. The machine appears to boot from the memory stick and the initial page appears where one can choose to install BING on the HD or not. At this point, as soon as I try to use the built-in touch-pad mouse, the cursor leaps to the top of the screen and stays there, moving in an erratic way. I have tried to use a USB mouse and that doesn't work at all. Mouse operation was selected in Makedisk. The BIOS options are very minimal on this machine and there is nothing to enable legacy USB mouse support. Also, trying to use BING through the keyboard has no effect at all.
If I use the flash drive in a desktop machine the mouse works correctly.
Can anyone offer help on this?
Thank you

Erratic mouse behaviour
Re: Erratic mouse behaviour
I've had more time to go through the forum and, though it didn't come up in a Search, it seem that the postings about "BING and USB" are addressing the same issue as mine, with extensive discussion, but not necessarily a solution. I am going to try other USB mice, try an external USB keyboard and, if necessary, remove the drive from the machine and do the re-partitioning that I want to do (this is an XP machine) on a different machine.

Re: Erratic mouse behaviour
I have had better results using a wired mouse rather than wireless.
A mouse is pretty inexpensive to purchase.

Re: Erratic mouse behaviour
Thanks Mary. I had tried a wired USB mouse and it didn't work at all ... no cursor movement whatsoever. However, I then remembered that I had left the dongle for my wireless keyboard/mouse combo plugged in. I removed this and the wired mouse worked normally. The netbook's keyboard then started to work as well, though there was no improvement in the touchpad. Anyway, all in all everything worked out pretty well and I was able to divide off a second partition (to use with Zorin).
Thank you

I also need to remove the USB dongle.
I love my wireless mouse!!! Only use the wired with BIBM or BING.

Re: Erratic mouse behaviour
Same thing here. I thought a hacker was controlling my computer at first. Scared the hell out of me. I changed from wireless to a wired mouse and that seems to have fixed it though.
