Cloning Windows 7 VHD

Post by Znida »

Hello,

I am new to IfW software.
I was trying to clone VHD (with Windows 7 inside) to phisical drive, but I have a problem with error 0xc000000e when booting target drive.
I tried all the options (Change disk ID, Write standard MBR Code,...) checked and unchecked.
I attached the VHD in Windows 7 and also tried attaching it in IfW. I get the error either way.

I was cloning VHDs to phisical drives with Norton Ghost, and it always worked, but it was too slow. It took 3x the time as if I used IfW software.

What partitions are on in the VHD and the physical clone (I assume it's MBR)?

If resizing or scaling, have you tried it keeping the original size?

Are you copying all the partitions (entire disk copy) or selected partitions?

Were any other drives connected when you tried booting the clone?

Did you verify the BCD entries are pointing to the correct partitions?

Do you need to add any drivers (or clean existing drivers) to allow booting? If the VHD was running in a VM it would probably not have the drivers required for a physical system. Several of the TBOSDT scripts can help with this (e.g. OSDTOOL, TBIDTOOL).
