Unformatted space/unallocated space

Howdie,

how is it if i backup complete harddisk, and there is unallocated space on it and unformatted volumes will this all be backed up? Truecrypt volumes are shown as unformatted in disk management tools, but ifw showed them to me as ntfs. That worries me a little.

If the MBR isn't encrypted the partition table is visible. The partition type usually indicates the formatting (e.g. NTFS). However, the partition is still encrypted.

thank you. But what about the backing up unallocated space part? Will Image for Windows backup unallocated space or not? Does this Change when i check the Option backup unused sectors?

Unallocated space won't be included in the backup of an entire drive unless you select the "Backup Unused Sectors" option.
