Hi,
I have always had a tendency to use Asus 'boards. Their BIOS
invariably plays nice with BIBM.
I have had bad experiences with Gigabyte. I just could not bet the
bugger to be stale or boot up at all...and I had 2-3 replacements
until I jumped ship to Asus.
With my latest Asus 'board, the integrated peripherals have failed one
by one. Luckily, add in cards are cheap.
What are your preferences when buying motherboards? Of course, I
bought an Intel 1156 CPU just before they became obsolete, so it will
have to be a new CPU when the time comes. Support as regards BIOS
updates is important.
Thanks in advance.

Motherboard advice
Re: Motherboard advice
Hi,
Replying to an old post, but I mostly like MSI mobos, but just recently got my first Asus mobo in a long while, because I was looking for a decent LG2011 mobo with 8 DIMM slots. I got the Asus P9X79 LE, which thus far, has been fine.

Re: Motherboard advice
I've had Asus boards which both have and have not played nice. I am
actually moving away from Asus boards as on this current one, the
integrated bits (sound, network card etc) have failed one by one and I
have some weird issue with the USB headers. If I could get a
replacement LGA1156 board today I would - but as the socket is
obsolete that is not really an option (only cheap and nasty or vy
expensive ones left for sale).

Hi,
Newegg has a couple of 1156 mobos:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813138160
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813138159
Both are rated 4 eggs.

ohaya disturbed my reverie and wrote:

I'd definitely buy one of those if I lived Stateside. For those who do
not know, I live in the UK and the LGA1156 pickings are VERY thin on
the ground. Only one of the suppliers I'd do business with has any in
stock, and they are not worth going for.
